Dortmund and the Transition of Time
© Gerd P. Müller, Stadt Dortmund
Dortmund changes itself. Constantly. Everywhere. Discover the buildings, neighbourhoods, and other witnesses that hold stories of Dortmund’s past, present, and future. Your tour will lead you to the harbour with the old harbour master’s office, past the Kokerei Hansa coking plant and to the Zeche Zollern mine. With a brief tour you'll see the "palace of work" and get an impression of the life of a miner. Living industrial culture is a reminder of the heavy industry of the past.
New purposes are being created to give a fresh start to the old industrial sites. On the grounds of the former Hüttenwerk, a new part of the city landscape is emerging with the colossal PHOENIX Lake. You’ll see signs of Dortmund’s future with the Technologiepark, university, and the Stadtkrone Ost.
Other highlights of the tour include the Hörde Castle, historic Kreuzviertel, and the Hohensyburg.
