Dortmund Christmas Market, old market photo: Thomas Winkler, Lünen

The Christmas market in Dortmund has already existed for more than 110 years. It has now become one of the biggest and most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany. Together with family, friends or colleagues, discover this traditional market with its attractions and cosy atmosphere. A city tour guide will tell you how the Christmas market came to Dortmund and how it has changed time after time in its long history - there will also be some funny anecdotes. As well as this you will find out some interesting details about Dortmund's city history, while you stroll by brightly coloured stands and the biggest Christmas tree in the world. Also, the secret will be revealed of how the first Glühwein turned up at the Dortmund Christmas Market - and of course you will also be able to enjoy a sample of this traditional drink.
