Many paths lead to Dortmund

Dortmund lies at the centre of fast connections and is surrounded by one of Europe's most dense motorway networks. Important economic centres are only one or two hours flight away thanks to our own international airport. And with the fast ICE, IC and EC trains, which offer hourly connections, Dortmund can easily be reached from all directions and regions both in and outside Germany.

Dortmund is situated at the eastern periphery of the Ruhr District, a region which is mastering the ongoing structural economic change with creative ideas and inexhaustible will-power. About nine million people live and work in the greater Dortmund area within a radius of only 50 kilometres, and within a circle of 100 kilometres there are nearly 18 million people. Thanks to this excellent geographical situation Dortmund is developing more and more into a location for innovative technology, future-oriented services, trade, and the insurance sector. In the past a coal and steel town, the importance of Dortmund today lies in the fields of processing and trade, research and teaching, and even golf and roulette. And, of course, there's still football! The friendly and hospitable people, the pulsating life in the city, the wide range of cultural activities, unusual locations, and so much more, have given Dortmund its reputation as an ideal congress and conference city. Dortmund invites you to discover a cosmopolitan city with all its diversity!
