Where clouds of steam rose into the sky and furnaces transformed coal into coke twenty-four hours a day, visitors can now explore a once “forbidden city” while following a path dedicated to . It leads past the coal tower, with its panoramic view, to the heart of the coking plant, a bank of furnaces. The coexistence of architecture, technology and nature is a unique feature of the Hansa Coking Plant. Since the plant was closed, nature has been reclaiming the terrain.
